COMPETITION FEELS

Whatsup drifters?
This was a second competition with my new chassis, had a few changes, but nothing really major. Reduced front and rear camber, also played a little bit with shock position, oil and springs. Made front a little bit stiffer then back. BTW still rocking 2.15CS and it feels great, a lot of countersteer action.
We are using Yokomo R4 tires for our competitions. Right now I got my car tuned very suitable for fast tracks and with mayor changes to narrow tracks. I can easily adjust to leaders pace and have big angle. Placed 6th in qualification and 2nd overall in this competition. I am satisfied with my score and also satisfied with chassis performance, for now only plans is carbon kit.

180SX BODYKIT UPDATE

Hey guys!
Decided to go with maruma factory wide bodykit for this build. Maruma factory 12 peace bodykit seems like most inclusive from all on the marker right now. Fenders add few mm to the car, so larger offset wheels can be used. The detailing and quality is very high.

Since the bodykit was purchased way after completing a body, it was a challenge to get exactly the same tone blue as a bodykit. It was painted with Tamiya PS-4 and backed with black, the final result is exactly the same as body color.

Since this body kit was made for yokomo 180sx street version, I had a few fitment issues, where it was needed to cut a little bit more or a little bit less than lines showed, but in the end it turned out good and this is my first time experience with fitting bodykits.

SMALL UPDATE ON 180SX

In my opinion D-CRAFT lightbuckets are best in business at this point, due to their high detail.
For my 180sx build I got front and rear D-CRAFTs

They are pretty easy to fit and looks amazing on a body, definitely gives some scale detail.

180SX PICS

Just wanted to share few pictures how the 180sx looks right now
The pink body in pictures is NISSAN R31 which came in a kit with my StreetJam OTA-R31 chassis, that was just a quick work, just painted in one color pink, nothing special about that paint work. Body quality is good , would not say that is was as detailed as ABC 180sx, but it was close, and also there were 2 plastic wings which came together with the body. In the 180sx set there was a lexan type x wing, so StreetJam is definitely ahead of ABC just in this perspective, since lexan wings are really easy breakable and does not hold good on body.

ABC HOBBY 180SX PART II

Decision on what paint to use was finally made, since I still wanted to do blue but just darker I used Tamiya PS-4
I don't have an airbrush, but have been painting few bodies with Tamiya PS series spray cans and it turned out good, so I decided to stay with spray cans for this work and not experiment anything new.
Since just single color seemed a little bit too boring, decision was made to paint hood black to have some contrast. Apparently don't have any pictures from painting process, but here you have a picture after panting was finished and a little bit of details added.
Now I have a body kit in plans, this build still needs a lot things done, so stay tuned!

NEW BODY PART I

Whats up everyone?
Always wanted Nissan 200sx and make just a clean look build with nothing too "extra".
Found some inspiration and decided to make type x 200sx.
Decided to go blue but maybe slightly darker tone.
So after that started searching for a detailed body, was convinced by few people that ABC knows what they are doing and their stuff is detailed and with a high quality.
So that's what I got, lexan is pretty thick and looks like good quality, I'm satisfied so far with ABC build quality.

NEW CHASSIS PART II

Here we go, day 2 of assembling StreetJam OTA-R31.
Bulkheads assembled

Next step was quite big, both pulley holders and their "bridges" assembled and also all pulleys and belts added, in front I'm using Oneway and locked diff in rear.

Here are the included CVDS, looks like big angle is not going to be a problem for them

Rear and front arms are added, also basic and plastic

StreetJam offer 4 and 7 degree caster c-hubs in their set, I decided to use 7 degrees to give a chassis more aggressive feel in driving

One new thing StreetJam brought into rc drift scene is rear diffuser, StreetJam was first company to actively use it, and nowadays it is common for a lot of chassis

Missed to take a pictures of few processes, but here it is packed with electronics and also pulleys were exchanged to obtain 2.15 CS (115%).

Did some tests and it drives really good for my liking.Wiring still needs to be shortened, but that's a topic for another day.

BLOG START - NEW CHASSIS PART I

Hey there!
My name is Daniels Bambals, I am rc drift enthusiast from Latvia.
I got into this hobby in ~2012 and as a lot of people I started with tamiya tt-01d.

Seemed like a good starting chassis, but with small potential in my opinion. Already after a year I decided that I need to switch the tt-01 for something more "serious". It was about time when StreetJam OTA-R31 was released. It was supposed to have 50 degrees steering lock out of the box for decent price and a lot of hop-up options, didn't wait too long and ordered it.
Honestly when it finally arrived I was maybe a little bit too excited, but it's a good feeling to get a new chassis isn't it?
Started to assemble it immediately. That was my first time assembling chassis so I took my time and tried to do everything carefully and without any rush.
Everything was packaged good and divided in individual packs according to building steps

Already the first thing I did not really enjoy was plastic pulleys, where you needed to glue one side to it. I just felt that they are not going to last long.
In step 2 steering rack was assembled, also suspension mounts and motor mount was added. All chassis was plastic, which made a little bit of play in steering rack and also did not please aesthetically, so carbon and alloy parts will be a must as a first hop-up.
For next step both (front and rear) pulley holders were assembled.
That's all for first assembly part.
